Helping Native American families with children in need

The spring Families and Schools Together (FAST) program, is again in full swing!

FAST has been offered to St. Joseph Indian School's American Indian students and their families since 2004; over 60 families have completed the program!

As the family strengthening program continues to grow, so do family bonds all across our South Dakota plains.  

Through a series of meetings held on St. Joseph Indian School's Chamberlain, South Dakota campus, families learn games and activities intended to strengthen family bonds and teach communication skills throughout the whole family.

FAST helps families learn to correspond more effectively. With this great program, we are helping Native American families become sturdy, which helps our children in need make better choices today and for their future!

In addition to games and learning communication skills, there is quiet time for parents to offer each other advice in a support group setting.

The program has been recognized as one of the most effective prevention and parent-involvement programs in the United States, working to build strong communication skills and reinforce family relationships.
